Leather goods care

Leather goods care

Keep your snakeskin items looking their best with this helpful guide. While snakeskin is undeniably beautiful, it requires special care to maintain its look.

Here's a step-by-step routine we recommend periodically, especially after your items have been through a messy outing!

Step 1

Start by cleaning your items with a warm, clean, damp cloth. Gently wipe against the grain of the snakeskin to remove any small clumps of dirt or debris trapped in the scales. Avoid getting the items too wet—just a slight dampness is enough. Then, allow them to air dry in a warm, but not sunlit, area.

Step 2

Once your items are dry, it's time to condition them. Like most leathers, snakeskin needs conditioning to prevent it from drying out and becoming brittle. Visit your local store or cobbler to find a leather conditioner suitable for snakeskin.

Before applying it to your items, perform a patch test in a discreet area to ensure it won't damage the material. If all looks good, proceed to gently rub the conditioner onto the rest of the items, following the direction of the snakeskin's grain.

When it comes to storage, keep your items in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maintain their quality over time.
